Core Group Technologies goal is to provide the
small to mid-sized business or community group the ability to
inexpensively launch and maintain their Internet website.
Typical Website Setup
We'll work closely with you to quickly identify 5
to 6 Website pages that professionally represent your business or
community group. Using the content and digital pictures you
provide, we will work with you to select a professional website
template that best represents your company or group's internet
presence. Next we will integrate your content and pictures
into the template and provide the completed website for your review
within 2 weeks from the receipt of your content and photos.
Need help writing content? We can do that too.
By using an existing template from our vast
supply of professionally designed templates, we are able to save you
a great deal on startup costs. A typical setup charge for 5 to
6 page website built on a template using your digital pictures and
your content will run only $250.
Custom Website Setup
Not interested in using a template for your website
layout? No problem, we can also work with you to develop a
100% custom solution. While significantly more expensive, this
is always an option.
Domain Name Selection and Registration
Now that we have your website setup and ready to
go, we need a way for Internet visitors to find your website.
We will work with you to identify a unique website name (for
example,
www.CoreGroupTech.com) so that your website can easily be found.
Not only will this be your website address, it can also become your
e-mail address as well (for
example info@CoreGroupTech.com) . We will take care of
registering this website domain address for you as part of the setup
of your website.
Monthly Hosting
Now that we have your website setup and ready to
go, it will need to be "hosted" on a web server. We lease
space on commercial website servers in bulk to get a reduced rate so
that we can pass that savings on to you. After several years
of providing website hosting for our clients with various commercial
website hosting companies, we have found a company that mixes a
reasonable hosting rate with good service and minimal downtime.
What? Downtime? Yes, there will be some downtime.
While we'd like to be able to guarantee that your website (or
anyone's website) would be up and running at all times, that simply
is not possible. The good news is that the companies we work
with do a great job of keeping downtime to a minimum. They do
that through the use of redundant hardware, backup electrical power
systems, and redundant internet connections. They are also
very good at scheduling maintenance in the wee hours of the morning
to minimize the impact to your site visitors.
E-mail
With your monthly hosting comes 5 e-mail
addresses that will be unique to your organization. We will
work with you to identify these and to get them setup. You can
choose to access your e-mail over the internet (from any internet
connected PC in the world), or setup "POP3" e-mail that you can
access on a single PC using your favorite e-mail client (such as
Microsoft OutLook).
Monthly Hosting & Maintenance Packages
So how much will it cost on a monthly basis to
host your website? And what if you want to change the website
to reflect a new product or a pricing change, or to announce your
groups next meeting? Also, what about that annual domain name
registration fee?
Good questions. Website development
companies approach this differently. After a few years of
working with small and mid-sized business and groups, we understand
that smaller upfront setup costs along with known monthly expenses
are far more desirable from a cash flow perspective. We also
realize that unless we build in some pre-paid website maintenance
(website changes) in our monthly fee, that some small businesses
will let their websites get outdated simply because they don't want
an "extra expense" periodically to keep the website up to date.
But we also know that the only thing worse than not having a website
is having a website that is woefully out of date as site visitors
are very turned off by out-of-date information.
Lastly, we also know that small to mid-sized
businesses and groups also don't have a great deal of time to spend
learning how to setup and maintain their own websites along with
juggling invoices from various companies (domain registration,
website hosting companies, website maintenance work, etc).
So what to do - what to do? We've hit upon
a simple solution that addresses all of these challenges. We
offer two versions of a simple and inexpensive monthly website
hosting and maintenance plan. We include website hosting,
ongoing domain name registration, and website maintenance (changes
to your website) in a convenient monthly package for one price.
To make it even easier, we bill you quarterly instead of monthly.
Want to pay annually, no worries, we can even make it that simple.
One bill for all of your website expenses and nothing else to worry
about. The best part, is that your website changes are already
paid for. So all you have to do is e-mail your changes to us
and we take care of them for you! Sweet.
Cost
Ok, so you're sold. This is the deal that
you are looking for. So let's cut to the chase. What
does this all cost? Here's a sample run down on setup and our
two monthly hosting and maintenance packages.
Typical Setup - $250 (based on a
template package with 5 to 6 web pages)
Custom Setup - TBD on a case by
case basis. Will typically run 4 to 6 times as much as a
typical setup.
Monthly Hosting and Maintenance Package A
- $25 per month
-
Monthly commercial website hosting cost
-
Use of 5 e-mail addresses
-
Pro-rated monthly domain registration
cost
-
30 minutes of website maintenance work
per month
-
Note: The monthly 30 minutes of website
maintenance can be used anytime within the billing quarter.
For example, if during the quarter you only change the
website once, that change can go up to 90 minutes (3 months
X 30 minutes per month). However, if you have no changes
during the quarter, those 90 minutes do NOT rollover to the
next quarter. So use 'em or lose 'em! (We do these to
encourage changes to your site!)
Monthly Hosting and Maintenance Package B
- $50 per month
-
Monthly commercial website hosting cost
-
Use of 10 e-mail addresses
-
Pro-rated monthly domain registration
cost
-
60 minutes of website maintenance work
per month
-
Note: The monthly 60 minutes of website
maintenance can be used anytime within the billing quarter.
For example, if during the quarter you only change the
website once, that change can go up to 180 minutes (3 months
X 60 minutes per month). However, if you have no changes
during the quarter, those 180 minutes do NOT rollover to the
next quarter. So use 'em or lose 'em! (We do these to
encourage changes to your site!)
Website Maintenance above the package
amounts - $50 per hour
Wow. $50 per hour? Ouch. That's
why the packages are so attractive. At $50 an hour, many small
business people just don't want to make changes to their website.
However, with the monthly hosting and maintenance packages, the
price includes either 30 minutes or 60 minutes of website
maintenance along with the monthly hosting costs and the domain
registration fees. Everything in one convenient bill and no
other "hidden costs". How cool is that?
Hey - Couldn't I do this myself?
Absolutely, you can do this yourself. All
of the information is available on the internet. I'll even
tell you that I use www.GoDaddy.com
for domain name registration and I use
www.LFCHosting.com for
website hosting. I've migrated to these two providers over the
years as they balance good service with reasonable costs.
Hmmm... what's the catch, eh? Why would I
give you this information? It's like every thing else, where
do you want to spend your time and what level of quality are you
expecting once you have completed the work? For example, you
could build your own house. But unless you have the background
and the tools and the connections, you will pay more, you will spend
time you could have invested elsewhere, and the result will likely
not meet your expectations. Having said that, there are
certainly exceptions, but for the most part it's not the happy
ending that the we longed for when we started. Often times,
(websites and houses) a professional is called in to finish the job.
Then you have lost the time you invested and probably spent much
more than if you had just had the professional do the work.
